RYAN CARR has revealed that he has watched every single game of Castleford Tigers’ 2025 Super League season in order to understand his players and how they play.
Carr was only appointed as head coach of the West Yorkshire club back in August, but that hasn’t stopped the former St George Illawarra Dragons assistant from doing intense research on the players that still remain at The Jungle.
“I watched every game from last year because it’s important to understand the players and the style of game because I’ve been working in the NRL,” Carr said.
“I wanted to understand our players, how they play, their strengths and what we can do better as a team.
“But I don’t want to look backwards too much, I want to look forwards because what happened last year on the field wasn’t in my control.
“I’m more worried about how we turn up for pre-season.”
In terms of the club’s recruitment for 2026, Carr is happy but has revealed that more will be coming through the doors at The Jungle.
“I’m definitely happy with the recruitment and Chezzy (Chris Chester) has done a great job. We’ve talked every day, even when I was in Australia.
“The recruitment hasn’t finished yet; we’ve got 12 or 13 new players, so it will feel new and different for players who were here before.
“There will be an injection of different characters and strengths. It will come down to everyone doing their job, not one or two individuals.”
