Don’t Miss the Grand Opening of Avondale’s State-of-the-Art Sand Volleyball Complex!
The City of Avondale will hold a grand opening for its new sand volleyball complex next week. The facility is the first of its sort in the West Valley, according to a press statement. It’s located in The BLVD, an entertainment zone along Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration will be held at the complex on June 4 at 8:30 a.m. According to officials, participants will be able to tour the facilities and participate in a free youth clinic at 9:30 a.m.
“The Sand Volleyball Complex at The BLVD complements the myriad of sports and recreation amenities in our city,” Director of Avondale Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Bryan Hughes said in a statement. The sand volleyball complex was constructed on a one-acre lot adjacent to the existing Randall McDaniel Sports Complex. The perimeter fencing around the five new competition-grade sand volleyball courts ensures security and privacy. The courts have spectator seating, shade structures, drinking fountains, security cameras, and an autonomous watering system. There is also a lavatory building nearby, as well as landscape improvements in the surrounding region.
“From the soccer fields at Friendship Park and Festival Fields to the indoor sports tournaments at American Sports Centres Avondale, Avondale has built a solid reputation as a hub for youth and amateur sports in the West Valley,” Hughes stated in the press release. The newest amenity in Avondale cost $2.9 million, which included a $162,500 grant from the Arizona Sports and Tourism Association. The Chasse Building Team built the facility.
