Surprising Admission: Ukraine’s Vitaliy Mykolenko Opens Up About Football Knowledge Gap After Scotland Prediction for Euro 2024 Clash with Germany
Everton and Ukraine full-backs Vitaliy Mykolenko claimed he doesn’t understand football when his Scotland forecast versus Germany failed.
Before the Euro 2024 opening against Germany and Scotland, the Ukraine international predicted that Scotland would either upset the hosts with a win or hold them to a tie. In truth, the Germans defeated the Scots 5-1 to start their voyage on a high.
After his forecast was incorrect, Mykolenko publicly stated that he did not understand football, as Scotland managed only one shot against the host nation and had only 27% possession during the match.
The 25-year-old told a reporter, “I was for the Scots, and I said there would be a draw or the Scots would win, but I realised that I don’t know anything about football because they didn’t even make a single shot.”
The Toffees defender will face Romania at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Monday to kick off Ukraine’s Euro 2024 campaign.
