Fellow full-back Kelvin Abrefa is struggling with his fitness, having missed all of Reading’s pre-season fixtures. He has, however, returned to training this week. Centre-back Jeriel Dorsett, who has also been out for the entirety of pre-season, is in a similar situation. Both Abrefa and Dorsett are expected to be back in training, but their match fitness remains uncertain.
Selles provided an update last weekend, indicating that Abrefa is slightly ahead of Dorsett in terms of recovery. The Reading manager hopes that both defenders will be available for selection, though their readiness for the opening match remains in question.
