Sunderland are ready to make a move to bring in Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison on loan, despite the 21-year-old having just signed for the Premier League club this summer.
The young forward made the switch from Sheffield United to AFC Bournemouth in a £1.5 million deal earlier this offseason. However, Jebbison is expected to be loaned out in the coming weeks, and Sunderland are among the clubs interested in securing his services on a temporary basis.
Sunderland got their Championship campaign off to a winning start last weekend, defeating Cardiff City 2-0 in manager Régis Le Bris’ debut. The club will be hoping this result kickstarts a successful season on Wearside, but it’s clear they are still in the market for additional attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
Sunderland have been relatively quiet in the market so far, with just four permanent signings – Alan Browne, Ian Poveda, Blondy Nna Noukeu and Simon Moore. But it now appears the Black Cats are ready to add a Premier League loanee to that list, as they target Jebbison to bolster their forward line.
The 21-year-old Jebbison first caught the eye during his time in Sheffield United’s academy, before enjoying a productive loan spell at Burton Albion in League One last season. While he was unable to cement a regular role back at Bramall Lane, his potential has convinced Bournemouth to sign him this summer.
However, the Cherries are now set to send Jebbison out on loan to continue his development, and Sunderland are keen to offer him that opportunity in the Championship. The young striker’s pace and power are seen as attributes that could benefit Sunderland’s attack as they push for promotion this season.
