MARSEILLE HIT WITH €20,000 UEFA FINE
Olympique de Marseille has been fined by UEFA for providing their financial details after the deadline. The regulatory authority has also given Aston Villa permission. Marseille did submit their financial data to the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) for the year 2023, just like Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco did, but they did not do so on time. As a result of Les Phocéens’ tardiness in submitting the necessary paperwork, they have been fined €20,000.
UEFA penalized Aston Villa for the same offense as Marseille. OM did not participate in any European football this
season following a rocky 2023–24 season, even though they advanced to the UEFA
Europa League semifinals before losing to Atalanta Bergamo, the eventual
winners. Aston Villa, a Premier League team who finished in the top four last
year and will play in the UEFA Champions League this season, has been
fined for the same offense. They were hit with a €60,000 fine.
