Celtic defeated Slovan Bratislava 5-1 on Wednesday to start their league phase campaign in an outstanding manner.
Lineker is upbeat about the Scottish Premiership champions’ chances of competing in Europe this season after this impressive display.
Lineker is clearly excited about Celtic’s possibilities after seeing them dominate the Slovakian team. The tournament’s redesigned format allows the top 24 clubs to advance to the play-off stages and perhaps make it to the final 16.
“What about Celtic hitting a five-pointer? Talking about thrilling football and amazing stuff,” Lineker stated on The Rest is Football Podcast.
They will now face teams that they can defeat, and in my opinion, one of the favourites to make it to the playoffs this year.
