Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman Signs Contract With Detroit Lions

Kevin Zeitler, a seasoned guard with a 13-year tenure in the NFL, has recently inked a fresh contract, this time with the Detroit Lions. The seasoned player, hailing from Wisconsin, had previously plied his trade with the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023 season. Before his stint with the Ravens, Zeitler had showcased his talents across various teams including the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants.

Reports indicate that the former Pro Bowl guard has set his sights on a one-year agreement with the Detroit Lions, a move confirmed by a reliable source. Zeitler is scheduled to undergo a physical assessment in Detroit tonight, with the formal signing expected to take place on Tuesday.

Despite a distinguished career, Kevin Zeitler’s Pro Bowl nod in the 2023 season was a first, marking a significant milestone for the veteran lineman. His consistent performance, particularly in shielding quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson, earned him recognition, culminating in a Pro Football Focus grade of 71.6 for the season, a commendable feat placing him 15th among 79 guards. The Baltimore Ravens also enjoyed a successful campaign, clinching the top spot in the AFC and progressing to the AFC Championship Game, albeit falling short against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Zeitler’s NFL journey commenced in 2012 when he was drafted in the first round by the Cincinnati Bengals. His transition to professional football was seamless, immediately assuming a starting role within the team’s offensive line and contributing to their playoff aspirations.

Following a stint with the Bengals, Zeitler ventured into a new chapter with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, maintaining his stellar form despite the team’s inability to secure postseason success. Subsequently, he joined the New York Giants, where he continued to demonstrate his reliability on the field, albeit without achieving playoff triumph.

In a bid to rekindle divisional rivalries, Kevin Zeitler returned to the AFC North in 2020, donning the colors of the Baltimore Ravens. Over the course of three years with the Ravens, Zeitler showcased his durability and skill, featuring in 49 out of 51 possible games, contributing significantly to the team’s robust offensive line.
