After the final whistle, Sadler was in no mood to accept defeat graciously, claiming that his team was simply “unlucky” and that “9 times out of 10, Walsall would have won” had the game been replayed. His remarks suggested that Walsall were the better side and should not have lost to an opposition he seemingly deemed inferior.
“It hurts badly because we were by far the better team,” Sadler said. “If we had lost this game to a better opposition, I wouldn’t be feeling this hurt.”
However, these comments did not sit well with Swindon Town legend Chris Kamara, who wasted no time in firing back at the Walsall manager.

Kamara, who enjoyed a successful spell at Swindon Town, was quick to call out Sadler’s lack of sportsmanship and dismissed his remarks as excuses for a poor performance from his team.
“Reading those comments made me sad because it just shows he is a sore loser,” Kamara said. “A team playing away from home kept your team at bay for 90 minutes, took their chance, and won. And yet, you say they were not a good opposition? That is sad.”
Kamara further criticized Sadler for failing to take responsibility for his team’s inability to convert their dominance into goals.
“I guess he expected Swindon to roll over, but instead, he found himself in a real battle,” Kamara continued. “Hold your team and players responsible for being unable to put the ball in the back of the net. That’s football.”
Swindon Town went into the match as underdogs, having only managed one win against teams in the current top ten prior to this fixture. However, they produced a disciplined and well-structured display, frustrating Walsall at every turn before Joel Cotterill grabbed the winner with a clinical finish from close range.
Despite Walsall’s possession dominance, they struggled to break down Swindon’s compact defense, with the visitors showing tactical discipline and resilience to see out the game.
One Swindon fan took to social media to call out Sadler’s comments, writing: “You lost fair and square. Take it like a man. Swindon came with a game plan, executed it, and got the win. End of story.”
Another fan added: “Football isn’t won on ‘what-ifs.’ If Walsall were really that much better, they would have scored. Sadler’s comments are embarrassing.”
Sadler’s frustration is understandable given that Walsall remain League Two leaders, and dropping points at home to Swindon was a bitter blow. However, his refusal to acknowledge Swindon’s effort has drawn criticism, especially from a club icon like Kamara.
