Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has thrown his future at the club into serious doubt after making a cryptic statement that has only intensified growing exit rumours. As the 2025 MLB season unfolds and his contract edges toward expiry, the 26-year-old star has fans and analysts alike questioning whether he will be wearing a Blue Jays jersey much longer.
In what many interpreted as a telling moment, Bichette was asked during a media scrum if he envisioned staying with Toronto beyond this season. His answer was brief, but loaded with uncertainty.
“I don’t know yet what is going to happen. But I can’t guarantee I am staying,” he said, looking down as he spoke—his tone leaving little room for optimism among the fanbase.
Bichette, who is in the final year of his contract, has yet to make any headway in negotiations with the Blue Jays front office. Multiple sources around the league report that talks have stalled and there is currently “no momentum” towards an extension.
