Two departing Castleford Tigers players are set to link up with one of the club’s former coaches next season.
George Griffin and Josh Hodson are among the players that said their goodbyes at the end of the season but they have now secured new clubs, and are set to reunite with former Cas coach Craig Lingard in the process.
All Out Rugby League understands the pair have agreed to sign for Sheffield Eagles next season as the Championship club start to get to work on a squad rebuild for the upcoming season.
Griffin has spent the last 14 seasons playing in Super League, representing Hull KR, London Broncos, Salford Red Devils, Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers, making 235 Super League appearances in the process.
Meanwhile, this will be the third time Hodson has worked with Lingard. He also played under him during his time at Batley Bulldogs. Hodson started his career at London before moving to Batley in 2022, where he was a regular for two seasons.
His best season was in 2023, scoring 19 tries in 26 appearances and that resulted in the Tigers making their move for the now 25-year-old as he got his first crack at Super League.
Chances have been limited at the Jungle and he will now return to the second tier with the Eagles next season.
After a string of departures from the club, the Eagles got the ball rolling on their recruitment on Thursday when they announced the signing of York Knights winger Joe Brown.
Now, Griffin and Hodson are set to follow.
