Meanwhile, the future of North Macedonian striker Bojan Miovski is in the spotlight as his move to Spain’s Girona FC edges closer.
Reports emerged on Wednesday indicating that Serie A side Genoa had targeted Miovski as their primary transfer objective. However, despite Genoa’s persistent efforts, the lure of Champions League football appears to have swayed Miovski toward a move to Spain. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Girona are now “very close” to finalizing the deal, leading Genoa to explore alternative attacking options.
Miovski’s impressive performances have attracted interest from several European clubs this summer, including newly-promoted English Premier League team Southampton. Aberdeen recently rejected a bid of approximately £3 million from Espanyol, highlighting the growing demand for the striker.
In a move that may impact the negotiations surrounding Miovski’s transfer, Aberdeen has secured the signing of Ante Palaversa from French side Troyes for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old Croatian, who once faced Lionel Messi and cost Manchester City €7 million in January 2019, has signed a one-year contract with the option for an additional two years should he prove successful.
Palaversa’s arrival is particularly noteworthy as both Troyes and Girona are owned by the City Football Group. This connection could be pivotal in maximizing Aberdeen’s income from Miovski’s impending sale. Initial offers from Girona have been rejected, but discussions are ongoing regarding a potential sell-on percentage, with a resolution expected soon.
As Miovski’s transfer nears completion, it is unlikely that he will feature for Aberdeen in their upcoming Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren. By then, he may have already finalized his move to Girona.
In a recent interview with Red TV, Palaversa shared his thoughts on his move to Aberdeen. “I feel that I need to take this opportunity to prove myself,” he said. “Aberdeen is a very optimistic club that wants to achieve good results, and that aligns with my own ambitions. I am excited to start this new chapter in my career.”
Palaversa reflected on his journey through various leagues and his battle with injuries. “The experiences I have had, particularly the challenges, have made me stronger and more determined,” he explained. “I’ve played in different countries and styles, which I believe will help me adapt quickly to Scottish football.
