AFC Wimbledon forward Osman Foyo has been suspended from football after admitting to 252 violations of the Football Association’s betting regulations.
The 21-year-old Dutch player was found to have placed bets on football matches between October 29, 2023, and March 28, 2025, in breach of FA Rule E8. Following a disciplinary hearing, an independent Regulatory Commission handed Foyo a five-month suspension and a £1,000 fine.
One month of the ban will be served immediately, meaning Foyo will be unavailable for selection until 2 November 2025 and will miss at least three League One fixtures. The remaining four months of the suspension are deferred until 2 April 2027, pending any further breaches of betting regulations.
“It was alleged that the player breached FA Rule E8 252 times by placing bets on football matches between 29 October 2023 and 28 March 2025, and Osman Foyo subsequently admitted the charge,” the FA said in a statement published on the player’s 21st birthday.
Foyo joined Wimbledon from Ipswich Town in January 2025 and has made eight appearances for the club so far. He will begin serving his suspension this weekend, with Wimbledon set to face Blackpool in League One.
The case is the latest in a series of high-profile betting-related sanctions in English football, following bans for players including Ivan Toney and Sandro Tonali, as the FA continues its crackdown on gambling breaches within the sport.
