Gadsden (Ala.) City four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson was the first big recruiting win of the 2026 cycle for Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama staff. The in-state standout committed to the Crimson Tide on Christmas Eve.
He is the second highest-ranked commit in Bama’s class to date, and though he remains pledged, he’s now set to take an official visit elsewhere this weekend.
Gibson announced on Monday via X that he’ll soon be in Oxford for an OV with Ole Miss:
Lane Kiffin and the Rebels are coming off a big weekend of OVs and are now gearing up to welcome their next batch of top prospects. Gibson will be a top name on the visitor list.
Back in February, Gibson updated his recruitment with On3’s Chad Simmons. He tabbed Tennessee as the team that was recruiting him the hardest and also noted that he set an OV to Knoxville for the weekend of June 13. Auburn, Miami and Georgia have also remained in pursuit of the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder. His official visit to Alabama is set for June 20.
“My commitment to Alabama is solid,” Gibson said. “My relationship with the coaches and staff especially, Coach Mo (Maurice Linguist) is key. I see myself being successful in their defense. Coach Mo will help me develop and reach my goals as a player and as a man.”
Gibson is the No. 73 overall prospect and No. 11 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Alabama.
Ole Miss eyeing another big flip
To date, Ole Miss has seven commits in its class that ranks No. 14 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Headlining the pledge list is Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares four-star linebacker Izayia Williams.
