Brisbane Broncos fans were left buzzing with excitement after star playmaker Ben Hunt revealed the unique names he has given his newborn twin boys. In a touching tribute to the club’s proud history, Hunt named his sons after two of the greatest players to ever wear the Broncos jersey — Darren Lockyer and Allan Langer.
Lockyer, widely regarded as the club’s greatest-ever player, holds the record for the most appearances and is remembered for his brilliance at both fullback and five-eighth. A natural leader, he guided the Broncos to multiple premierships and remains an icon of the sport. Langer, meanwhile, was a four-time Dally M Halfback of the Year and Clive Churchill Medal winner, who captained the Broncos during their golden era in the 1990s.
For Hunt, the choice was more than symbolic. “These two men inspired me growing up and shaped so much of what I love about rugby league,” he said proudly. “Naming my boys after them is my way of honoring their legacy. Hopefully, one day, they can grow up with the same passion and respect for the game.”
