At the City Stadium (Lesser Hampden), Celtic defeated Slovan Bratislava 4-0. Goals from Francis Turley and substitute Samuel Isiguzo, along with a brace from Daniel Cummings in the first half, ensured a decisive three points for Celtic.
That served as a preamble to this evening’s big event, which takes place at Parkhead when Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic play Slovan’s senior team.
This will be Celtic’s inaugural participation in the Champions League’s newly established league phase format.
Eight distinct opponents—four at home and four away—will they take on.
Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb, and Aston Villa are among the destinations Celtic will visit.
While they welcome to Glasgow’s east end Slovan, RB Leipzig, Club Brugge, and BSC Young Boys.
Head coach Stephen McManus commented following the victory of the “B” squad, saying, “I thought it was a terrific disciplined performance.” The entire game, we had excellent control over the situation. We had discussed playing under pressure and how we try to play it a lot. We make every effort to emulate the first team as closely as we can, but it is quite challenging.
“The guys once again put in a lot of effort, and it’s clear why it’s better to play every week as opposed to only once every three or four weeks.
“It’s the competition’s first game, and it’s good to get off to a good start. As always, there will be a lot to learn for the coaches, but more significantly for the players.
