Denver Broncos on set to sign Detroit Lions WR on a two-year deal

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent wide receiver Josh Reynolds is set to join the Denver Broncos, securing a two-year contract worth $14 million. Reynolds, aged 29, previously served as the second-choice wideout for the Detroit Lions, where he tallied 40 receptions, 608 yards, and a touchdown in the previous season. Following a trade from the Tennessee Titans in 2021, Reynolds became a dependable target for quarterback Jared Goff, with whom he had prior experience playing alongside during their time with the Los Angeles Rams. However, Reynolds faced some challenges in his final game with the Lions, dropping crucial passes in a defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. Despite this, Lions’ general manager Brad Holmes expressed interest in retaining Reynolds for the team.

Throughout his career, Reynolds has amassed 220 catches, 2,933 yards, and 19 touchdowns. He will now bolster the Broncos’ receiving corps, which includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Tim Patrick. With Jerry Jeudy recently traded to the Cleveland Browns, there’s an opportunity for Reynolds to fill the void on the depth chart. While Reynolds may not be the flashiest addition, he is expected to provide a steady pair of hands for whichever quarterback assumes the starting role for the Broncos in the upcoming season.
