VfB have handed 23-year-old attacker Jamie Leweling a one-year extension to his current contract, tying him to the Cannstatt club until 30 June 2029.
Leweling joined VfB on loan from Union Berlin for the 2023/2024 campaign before signing on a permanent basis in May this year. The wide man has made 53 appearances for the club in all competitions over the past 18 months, scoring five goals and setting up a further six. Remarkably, Leweling featured in every Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League game – not to mention the DFL Supercup – between August 2023 and 1 November 2024, when a thigh injury against Bayer 04 Leverkusen condemned him to a spell on the sidelines. He has yet to return to first-team action.
Leweling’s eye-catching displays at club level earned him a call-up to the Germany national team. He made his senior international debut in October, scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands.
