Manchester United are unlikely to be busy in the January transfer window but Ruben Amorim may be looking for one potential defensive addition.
Ruben Amorim will not exactly be a happy man as 2025 approaches.
Manchester United lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day and have now lost four in the last five Premier League outings.
There has been little ‘new manager
bounce’ to speak of and it’s clear that United must invest in 2025.
United spent more than £180million over the summer though and spending big money on new recruits in January may be tricky.
Amorim will be looking to mould this United squad in his image and he may want another defensive addition.
United don’t quite look secure in Amorim’s back three despite a host of options at his disposal.
Amorim has praised Leny Yoro whilst Noussair Mazraoui, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez are also available.
Lindelof is out of contract this summer though and Amorim may look to get ahead of the curve by adding an experienced defender to replace the Swede.
Tuttosport claim that United have ‘asked for information’ in the race to sign Juventus captain Danilo.
The 33-year-old will become a free agent this summer and United are thought to be one of a number of clubs chasing his signature.
Napoli, Marseille and Flamengo are also mentioned with Danilo seemingly a man in demand ahead of his contract expiring.
The former Manchester City and Real Madrid man offers great experience and leadership with Amorim potentially viewing him as a key addition for establishing his culture at Old Trafford.
