Troy Deeney, a revered figure in Watford Football Club’s history, is reportedly poised to make a remarkable return to Vicarage Road. The former captain is expected to assume a dual role as Club Ambassador and Player Liaison Officer, commencing at the start of the upcoming season.
Deeney’s association with Watford began in 2010 when he transferred from Walsall. Over an illustrious 11-year tenure, he made 419 appearances and netted 140 goals, playing a pivotal role in the club’s promotions to the Premier League in the 2014-15 and 2020-21 seasons. After departing Watford in 2021, Deeney joined his boyhood club, Birmingham City, where he continued to showcase his prowess on the field. Demonstrating his commitment to coaching, Deeney obtained his UEFA A coaching licence and, by December 2023, was appointed as the head coach of Forest Green Rovers following Horseman’s departure.
