WORCESTER Warriors forward Matt Rogerson says that the long-term goal of the side is to return to the Premiership.
However the ex-Leicester Tigers backrower says that there is not a specific timeframe for the return and it will take patience.
Rogerson decided to join up with the returning side from Leicester for a number of factors, including his existing relationship with head coach Matt Everard.
He explained: “I’d worked with him for a couple of years now.
“He is the type of coach where he wants to develop players and bring them on as individuals. He also wants to play a really exciting brand of rugby, we want to play a really expansive game and be attacking.
“For me, that worked in tangent with coming to work with a coach I’ve worked with before and coming to a set up like this was an easy choice.”
With the Champ Rugby season on the horizon, Rogerson says the long-term goal of Warriors is to return to the Premiership, and nobody in the changing room is afraid to say so.
“Matt Everard is running this as a Premiership programme,” he said. “It’s mirrored programmes that I’ve been in within the Premiership.
“The idea is that training is tough so it makes the games more comfortable for us. We keep pushing each other and hopefully that will translate into performances and hopefully wins.
“That’s got to translate into a matchday, into our performances and into our games – hopefully it will do. All we can do is control what we do in here. Intensity has been great, we’re running it as a real high-end Premiership programme.
“The ultimate goal for this club is to get back to the Premiership – I don’t think any of us are afraid to say that here.
“The timeframe to do that has not been discussed, it is going to take time. We’re a brand new squad, a brand new team. We will obviously set our ambitions to go on and win as many games as we possibly can.
“That long-term goal of wanting to be in the Premiership, it is impossible to say how long that is going to take and obviously we want to be sustainable before we go on and do that because it requires a huge amount of investment and all the things that come with it.
“That could take time, it will take patience. The group is focussed on going out, performing, winning games and we will see where that takes us.”
