Toby Sexton, who has found himself in three-way battle for two halves spots at Belmore, will leave the club at the end of 2025 to link with Catalan Dragons in the Super League.
The French club released a statement overnight saying the 24-year-old NRL playmaker has agreed to a two-year deal when his current Bulldogs contract expires in November.
“I’m super pumped to be joining the Catalans Dragons for the following season and can’t wait for what’s ahead,” Sexton said of the decision that will likely see him replace the French club’s current Australian half, Luke Keary.
The talented number seven has become increasingly surplus to coach Cameron Ciraldo’s requirements since the mid-season arrival of Lachlan Galvin, with ongoing speculation about both Sexton’s future and that of his Bulldogs teammate, Reed Mahoney.
“He’s been a really big character in the way we’ve turned around our culture and our connectivity,” Ciraldo said of Sexton, who arrived at the Bulldogs mid-season in 2023 with the club floundering at the bottom of the NRL ladder.
Sexton will see out the season at Belmore as the Bulldogs push for the club’s first NRL premiership since 2004, beginning with tonight’s Round 18 clash with the Broncos at Accor Stadium.
