CALUM MCINTYRE says him and his staff have been “backed to the hilt” in the quest to gain promotion to the National League.
Chester are just 90 minutes away from gaining promotion from National League North and the Blues, who finished fourth in the league, pay a visit to runners-up Scunthorpe United in Sunday’s play-off final.
A 2-1 triumph at home to Marine on April 21 made sure of Chester’s place in the end-of-season play-offs.
Boss McIntyre told Chester FC TV: “When we won the Marine game, you were able to plan your route and we put some stuff in place, and the support team behind the team.
“So, the backroom staff and the things they’ve put in place, and the direction we wanted to go in, we’ve been absolutely backed to the hilt and that, for us, making those things happen, the way we’ve been able to train, moving stuff around, swapping time tables, has made a massive difference.”
It’s set to be a tough encounter at the Attis Arena, where Chester last visited on March 22.
On a record-breaking day in National League North, it was then league leaders United who came out on top 3-1, in front of an English sixth tier record attendance of 8,274.
The ground has a maximum capacity of just over 9,000, so this figure is likely to be eclipsed this weekend – and Chester have sold out their full 1,601 allocation of their tickets for the showpiece.
For fans who have been unable to secure a ticket, the club is showing the play-off final live on a big screen at the Deva Stadium.
This screening will give supporters the chance to watch the game with fellow fans in the Gary Talbot Stand.
Tickets for the screening are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for U16s.
