Wests Tigers centre Solomona Faataape is set to continue his career in Super League, with the player’s manager dropping a major hint on his likely destination.
Castleford Tigers had set their sights on the outside-back for 2026 as part of their rebuild, with All Out Rugby League revealing talks between the two parties last week.
However, they face fierce competition from Catalans Dragons – and it appears likely that the French club have won the race for Faataape’s signature, with the his manager, Kif Chowdhury, dropping a major hint on his client’s future.
Speaking with Australian publication Zero Tackle, Chowdhury has confirmed that a Super League move is on the cards – likely to be a part of Joel Tomkins’ new era in Perpignan following his appointment as permanent head coach on a two-year deal.
“We’ve been working through our options and I think we’ve finalised a destination,” Chowdhury told Zero Tackle.
“Our priority is to give Sol a genuine platform to showcase his talent whilst continuing to develop his game as the NRL expansion teams near entry.”
He added: “A move to the Super League for a year or two would strongly benefit him. I hear the weather is nice in the South of France.”
Catalans Dragons have already confirmed the signing of Toby Sexton from Canterbury Bulldogs on a two-year deal, while young Penrith Panthers forward Zac Lipowicz is also expected to make the move to Perpignan, according to reports down under.
All Out Rugby League also revealed on Wednesday that the club’s revamp will see a string of senior players leave the club at the end of the season, including Theo Fages, Fouad Yaha, Tariq Sims, Bayley Sironen, Paul Séguier and Reimis Smith. Luke Keary will make an early exit from the club at the conclusion of the current season, while Tevita Pangai Junior has signed for Warrington Wolves.
