Chris Rigg’s Jaw-Dropping Reaction to Newcastle United’s Big Contract News!”

Chris Rigg, a midfielder for Sunderland, responded to news that one of his England Under-17 teammates had signed a professional deal with Newcastle United. Leo Shahar, an England junior team defender, signed his first professional contract with Newcastle United this month. After leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers for Newcastle last summer, the 17-year-old has made an impression on the team’s Under-18 and Under-21 squads.

“Seeing players like Trippier and Livramento playing well for the first team makes me want to thrive and try to get into a similar position that they are in,” the right-back said on the club website following the signing of his first professional contract.

“I want to keep trying to get into that spot because the fans adore those two.” To get there, I’m going to put in as much effort as I can every day on the training pitch.

Shahar also shared a photo of himself signing on Instagram, writing, “First professional contract ❤️ @nufc.”

Many of his teammates from the Newcastle academy and the England youth team, including Chris Rigg of Sunderland, showed their support for the young player’s message.
Earlier this month, in Cyprus, for the European Under-17s Championship, Shahar and Rigg have both been called up to the England Under-17s squad. Premier League teams, such as Newcastle United and Manchester United, have expressed a great deal of interest in signing Rigg, who made 21 Championship appearances for Sunderland in the 2023–24 season. In response to Shahar’s new deal, he said, “I love it.”

Rigg cannot sign a professional contract until he is 17 next month while still attending Sunderland on an academy scholarship. Clubs might therefore intervene and make him an offer of a professional contract without having to pay an official transfer fee.

Even though Rigg has long been admired by Newcastle, he is expected to sign his first professional deal at the Stadium of Light this summer due to the assurances of playing regularly for Sunderland’s first team.
