Dragons back-rower Dylan Egan is set for a significant stint on the sidelines after scans revealed the 20-year-old ruptured his ACL in their round 11 win over the Broncos.
Egan worked his way into the starting forward pack to begin the season, however, he will miss the rest of the year according to a statement released by the club on Monday.
He will now have reconstructive surgery which is a significant blow for Shane Flanagan and his side, who are making a push towards the top-eight.
Flanagan addressed the news, emphasising the significance of this loss on their 2025 campaign.
“This is awful news for Dylan and for the club,” he said.
“He’s not just a really important player for us this season and into the future, he’s a wonderful young man at the start of his NRL career and a very popular player within our group.
“For now we’re all going to rally around him and make sure he has plenty of care and support as he goes through his surgery and rehab. We look forward to welcoming him back into the team bigger and better in 2026.”
Elsewhere in the forward pack, Toby Couchman (shoulder), Emre Guler (shoulder) and Tom Eisenhuth (concussion) are all on the sidelines.
The Dragons will now have a bye and the chance to plan around this hit to their back-row rotation.
