Miami’s Cameron Ward has found himself in the first-round the 2024 college football season and is rapidly rising as a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

After transferring from Washington State, Ward has been pivotal in reviving Miami’s offense, which struggled in 2023. His standout performances, including a dominant victory over Florida where he threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns, have showcased his elite arm talent, mobility, anpocket presence.   So far in the 2024 season, Ward has completed over 72% of his passes, accumulating 1,439 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, putting him in strong contention for the Heisman Trophy. His ability to make precise, off-script plays and handle pressure has drawn significant attention from NFL scouts, positioning him as a likely first-round pick

After the 2023 season, the Miami Hurricanes were in terrible shape. A disappointing 7-6 season marred by a lacklustre offence left head coach Mario Cristobal searching for solutions. Cristobal looked at the site for transfers. The ‘Canes were looking through the portal for their next signal caller since incumbent and much-maligned starter Tyler Van Dyke was on his way to Wisconsin. Experienced newcomers like Riley Leonard, Sam McCall, and DJ Uiagalelei were abundant on the portal. Miami targeted Cameron Ward of Washington State. It was by no means an easy task. Ward went longer than most to decide, and he even made his 2024 NFL Draft declaration in a video.
