Luton Town have bolstered their squad ahead of the upcoming season by securing the services of Tom Krauß on a season-long loan deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz. The 23-year-old midfielder, known for his dynamism and tactical awareness, becomes Luton’s third signing this week, following the arrivals of Mark McGuinness and Liam Walsh.
Krauß arrives at Kenilworth Road with a wealth of experience under his belt, having spent the last two seasons as a regular in Germany’s top flight. During the 2022/23 season, Krauß made 32 appearances for Schalke 04 while on loan from his hometown club RB Leipzig, showcasing his versatility and tenacity in midfield. His performances caught the eye of Mainz, who secured his services last year, leading to Krauß making 29 appearances for them in the 2023/24 season. We won’t get to see Tom straight away – he’s recovering having picked up a slight knock while in training with Mainz recently – but what’s been brilliant for us is how keen he is to join. He’s the one pushing it, he wants to play for us. That speaks volumes; how far we’ve come and our level of ambition, to take a player with so much experience of the German top-flight.”
