Here are four winners and three losers from the Denver Broncos’ preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts

The Denver Broncos are back in action, kicking off their preseason with a victory against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. This game also marked the NFL debut of rookie quarterback Bo Nix, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, who has already sparked a sense of renewed hope and excitement among Broncos fans.

After rewatching the game, certain players clearly made their mark for Denver. So, who were the standout performers, and who struggled in this preseason opener against the Colts?

Despite a somewhat shaky start, Bo Nix ultimately stood out as one of the biggest winners, not just for the Broncos in this game, but across Week 1 of the preseason. Nix entered the draft with skeptics doubting his potential, labeling him as too old, too boring, or too limited. However, in this game, he started to silence those critics by showcasing the skills and poise that earned him a first-round selection. His performance hinted that he could be a crucial piece for the Broncos moving forward, proving that he’s more than capable of handling the pressure.

Bo Nix delivered an impressive rookie preseason debut against the Colts, particularly in how he rebounded from early mistakes. His rough start included a late throw to Greg Dulcich that nearly resulted in an interception and a botched snap exchange. However, Nix quickly found his rhythm and showcased his talent with some remarkable plays. His throw on the move to Courtland Sutton, the precise pass to Josh Reynolds in the end zone (which was unfortunately dropped), his ability to change arm angles to convert third downs, and the touchdown pass to Marvin Mims all highlighted his potential.

Nix also displayed his mobility and exceptional command of the offense, consistently converting third downs and turning drives into scoring opportunities, except for one halted by Lucas Krull’s fumble. Broncos Country has every reason to be excited about what they saw from Nix, as his performance hints at a promising future.
