Max Scharping Joins Eagles: Former Bengals OL Signs New Deal
Yet another former Cincinnati Bengals player has joined the Philadelphia Eagles. On Monday, the Eagles signed free agency guard Max Scharping to a one-year deal. Scharping was drafted in the second round by the Houston Texans in 2019. He played collegiately at Northern Illinois and has appeared in 79 NFL games (33 starts), including 31 games as a reserve in Cincinnati over the last two seasons.
While Scharping did not start a regular-season game, he did start three postseason games in 2022 after Alex Cappa went down. Scharping played in all 17 games last season, but he only took 13 offensive snaps and 72 field goal kicks. Scharping joins several former Bengals in Philadelphia, including wide receiver John Ross, offensive tackle Fred Johnson, tight end CJ Uzomah, kicker Jake Elliott, and quarterback Will Grier. The Eagles will visit Paycor Stadium on October 27th, when the two clubs face off in Week 8.
