Osaka won her first match as a mom at the Brisbane International.
Naomi Osaka, 26, shared an inspiring message after winning her first match as a mom, telling moms all around the world that every one of them is unique.
Osaka, who announced the birth of her daughter Shai in July, kicked off her post-pregnancy comeback on Monday at the Brisbane International. Stepping out on the court for the first time as a mom, the 26-year-old Japanese was triumphant as she beat Tamara Korpatsch 6-3 7-6 (9).
For Osaka, it was certainly a very memorable moment, considering that she underlined several times over the last couple of months that she would be playing for her daughter Shai in her return. After her win, Osaka took to social media as she had something she wanted to share with fellow moms.Dear moms, Everybody and every body is different. Don’t compare yourself to anyone, you’re beautiful and you’re loved,” Osaka wrote on X.

Against Korpatsch, Osaka was playing her first match since 2022 September. After her first match in 16 months, Osaka admitted that there was a different feeling on the court now that she is a mom. Also, Osaka felt like her daughter – who was at home – was there with her.
