Preston North End have announced that manager Ryan Lowe has left the club by mutual consent. The decision, confirmed by the club this morning, comes on the heels of a 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United in their first match of the new season.
Ryan Lowe, who took the reins at Deepdale in December 2021, managed to steer the team to solid finishes in the Championship, securing 13th, 12th, and 10th place over his two and a half seasons in charge. Despite these steady performances, the club and Lowe mutually agreed that now was the right time for a change.
In a statement released by the club, North End expressed their gratitude for Lowe’s contributions: “Ryan joined the club in December 2021, leading us to 13th, 12th, and 10th-placed finishes in his two and a half seasons as the club’s first team manager. Following discussions that took place on Sunday, it was mutually agreed that now was an appropriate time for a change to be made.”

As Preston North End look ahead to their next two fixtures against Sunderland and Swansea City this week, Mike Marsh will step in as interim manager, supported by Peter Murphy and Ched Evans.
