But after criticizing his undermanned team’s lack of “fight” and “grit” in that area after losing five games in a row, the head coach of the Dubs provided further context for his sharp post-game remarks on Friday afternoon.

Following Friday’s practice regarding Golden State’s defensive problems, Kerr declared, “It’s not effort.” It’s important to note that losing confidence in your shooting can also affect your defensive confidence. We seemed to lose some motivation last night, in my opinion. Everything was made by them. Even when our coverage was good, they were making everything. I believe I mentioned before the game that I’d be shocked if either team shot as well as they did the last time. That was clearly a huge mistake on my part. They set it on fire. We simply seemed a little disheartened, in my opinion, even on a few instances when we played excellent defense and they managed to score. That’s the nature of sports, and part of human nature. You put in a lot of effort, yet when things don’t go your way, you relax.
