CALUM MCINTYRE was disappointed with the goals Chester conceded in their 2-2 National League draw at home with Alfreton Town.
The Blues held a 2-1 advantage at the break, but they were unable to go on and make it back-to-back wins.
Manager McIntyre told Chester FC TV: “It’s where we’re at as a group and the team that we put on the pitch that we struggle in those moments.
“We struggle for a bit of physicality. We struggle for big, powerful central defenders, full backs, holding midfielders… and you concede goals like that and what do you do?
“But, at the same time, score two goals, create opportunities. But, can’t have to score twos and threes to win a game and the goals we are conceding are scandalous.”
Josh Ayres gave Alfreton the lead at the Deva Stadium on Tuesday evening, before Fin Shrimpton and Connor Woods’ penalty turned things around prior to the break. Jo Cummings grabbed the visitors’ leveller in the second half.
McIntyre added: “We desperately need a central defender, desperately need a forward. We had one last season, the best in the division – we sold him.
“We had a forward 12 months ago, 13 months ago. We sell him, scored 14 goals by January. They’re so hard to find when you’re losing them and that’s why we produce performances and get results like we do tonight.”
