The Manly Sea Eagles have officially part ways with  Zac Fulton from the club.

The Manly Sea Eagles have officially announced the departure of Zac Fulton from the club, granting him an immediate release from his playing contract. As a third-generation Sea Eagle, with lineage tracing back to his father Scott and grandfather, the legendary Bob Fulton, Zac was initially heralded as a promising talent in the second-row or lock position for the Sea Eagles.

Despite high expectations, Fulton’s tenure with the club has been limited, with just a solitary appearance in the top tier, notably debuting during the contentious pride jersey boycott match against the Sydney Roosters in 2022. In a formal statement, Manly confirmed Fulton’s departure, revealing his imminent move to the Bradford Bulls following his release. He is set to spend the remainder of the season competing in the English system’s second tier, with the illustrious club aiming for promotion to the Super League.

The decision to release Fulton came at the behest of his management, with CEO Tony Mestrov expressing the club’s well wishes for his future endeavors. “We extend our sincerest wishes to Zac as he embarks on the next phase of his rugby league journey and express our gratitude for his contributions during his time at Manly,” remarked Mestrov in the club’s official statement addressing Fulton’s departure.

Although Fulton’s opportunities in the NRL have been limited, he has demonstrated considerable promise at the reserve grade level. His recent participation in the pre-season clash between the Indigenous All Stars and the Maori All Stars underscored his potential. While departing for England, there remains optimism surrounding Fulton’s prospects of returning to the NRL fold in the future, given his evident talent and dedication.

In bidding farewell to Zac Fulton, the Manly Sea Eagles acknowledge his familial ties and the legacy he carries, while simultaneously recognizing his aspirations for continued growth and development in the sport. As he ventures into a new chapter abroad, the club remains supportive of his journey and anticipates his potential resurgence on the rugby league stage, wherever it may lead.
