The San Francisco 49ers will have their star left tackle Trent Williams on the field for the Week 1 game against the New York Jets. Williams officially ended his holdout on Tuesday and will rejoin the team after getting an improved deal.

Williams decided to miss training camp, which included not being present for practices and preseason games, in order to put pressure on the 49ers to give him an improved deal. Despite being considered the best offensive lineman in the league, even at the age of 36, Williams was “only” set to make $20.05 million in 2024 while having no more guaranteed money on his deal.

Now, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers decided to give Williams what he asked for. He will now be on a three-year, $82.66 million contract that includes $48 million in guaranteed money and a salary bump in 2024 to $27.5 million.
